When snow is not the snow we love

My first winter here I learned that snow is not stark white, but a most unbecoming shade of beige, once it has laid on the side of a street -- yuck! But the striations made by layers of dirty snow stacked by the snow plow in the mountain passes fascinate me. Taken in the Cascades in the last two years.

Snow is rather two sided isn't it.. beautiful as it falls and in picturesque landscapes, but treacherous and ugly on the roads and in travel. Have a great weekend and take care!

We never see dirty snow here because it never lasts long enough to get dirty but this does have a certain beauty.
