ONE FATHER'S DAY -- TWO THOUGHTS
Some fathers quake in their shoes
at what is in store for them:
milk, eggs, and toast
(sprinkled with crunchy bits and 5 tsps. of salt)
a trip to their favorite fast food joint
(the kids', not that of the father)
awakened as early as Christmas morning
(excited kids, you know)
another new tie or golf ball
(to add to the collection or lose on the water hole)
a fresh hole dug in the yard by the bestest helper
(five feet in the opposite direction)
Still quaking
they put their game face on
prepare to be slammed
and remember holidays
are only for adults
after hours
'cause
during the day
kids rule!

GREAT BIG
KISS AND HUG,
WHETHER IN PERSON
FROM AFAR
BY VOICE OR SIGHT
OR
FROM A MEMORY LONG GONE PAST
WHETHER SINGULAR
OR
MULTIPLE:
ONCE GIVEN, IT REMAINS IN THE HEARTS OF BOTH.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY. . . .
Have the kids search for a figure in the clouds while you catch your breath!
